Over the years most of the items displayed in that window has been thrown in to our skips. I have seen several of those bedside tables go on the fire, though admittedly not painted lime green. They were usually the standard dark wood colour.

There may be some pictures of him in Mondays papers, apparently a load of people saw him in Cofton park yesterday.

The City of Birmingham's Lord Mayor let our Church down yesterday. He was supposed to attend a Service to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Thomas's Garretts Green. He didn't turn up. Apparently something to do with the Popes visit. As neither was a surprise, I don't believe it. The Bishop of Birmingham a rather more important figure did come, and what a nice chap. SB

Didn't the LM send a stand in? I would have thought that Len Gregory being the committed Christian that he is would have tried his best to be there.

Not as far as I know, if he did it wasn't announced. Just that a German bloke was over here on holiday, or something like that. ( not my words ).

Odd, its just that I read that the LM is a big noise in the church of the Ascension in Stirchley and he a regular church goer. Is there a link between the Church of the Ascension and RC's then?

You could well be right Phil, but I never heard anyone mention that the LM was substituted.

From the website of the church of the ascension, stirchley;
OUR BELIEFS
The Church of the Ascension stands in the liberal catholic tradition of the Church of England. This means that our faith is based on the Catholic Creeds in which we profess our belief in God, revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit and in the Church as the community of those united by our common Baptism into the Body of Christ.
So sounds as if they are a bit close to me.
