Went off to the shops first thing, had to get some hay for the Rabbits, then we went off to the local church and helped dress it up with bunting for the Big Lunch tomorrow. Came back home and off up town we had lunch in a nice little Portugese restaurant we use regularly. Had a new Howick shirt from Rackhams (well there was a sale on £25 it was down from £37.50) and then we had a few other places to go. Finishing off wth a cuppa and a cake from Druckers.

Morning all,
Heavy rain overnight and still raining,I'm indoors working so no bother.
Graham, Druckers, a name from the past, Andre Drucker opened his first cafe in Aston Street in the late 50's, we did his sign ,it was a dark dinghy student type place with some of his paintings on the walls.
He then came into our studio in Stafford Street and asked us to do a sign for his new place in Carrs Lane he named this one FIREBIRD.
He was an Austrian artist and a very nice man, even then his cakes were out of this world.

Good morning Lyn and everyone. We are just getting ourselves sorted out to go down to the local Church for The Big Lunch. They usually overfeed everyone down there so it should be good.

Yes looks exactly the same as 60 years ago, a dismal morning. Though if I remember correctly it did clear up in the afternoon. Funny the thing I most remember about that day was all us kids on the back of an open back flatbed lorry touring around the streets hanging over the sides. I can just imagine what Health & Safety would have to say about that today,
