Morning All
Well the suns come back for how long is anyones guess
about the margarine it cant be no worse for you than
the dripping we use to eat and we are still here to
tell the tale

Mike, Phil, Astwood, I hate milk of any sort Makes me heave like it does you Phil, the only margarine we had during the war was Special margarine,basically whale oil.
Dripping was and is still great,when you can get it,I still eat a bread and lard slice with salt and pepper,scrumptious.
Like Astwood says, it never done us any harm,kids of today will have lots of health problems as they get older due to all the junk and refined rubbish they eat.
All our age group was brought up in a time of austerity and we had to have what we were given or go without.

Why cant you get a bowl of dripping off your Sunday joint anymore. The wife has tried for me but it never seems to set even if you put it in the fridge. Is it as I say all the water they soak the meat in before they freeze it. If I went and bought some beef or pork from a farm shop where they slaughter the meat themselves would it be any different?

Phil, I use a butcher in Burgess Hill and buy his dripping also,it's very tasty,has the jelly and brown bits, but a bit pricey at £3 a coffee cup sized tub,but well worth it.

Evening everyone, I really like drinking milk, especially full cream Jersey Gold top. I don't drink either these days I'm not allowed. Yes I agree with everyone, you can't beat dripping on toast with a little salt.
Mike how does dripping compare Cholesterol wise, against butter and margerine.

Is it because no one adds a big slab of lard to the Sunday joint tin anymore and beef cuts are trimmed of most of their fat?

I also can't drink milk. A tiny drop in tea and it has to be very very fresh or I'm ill.

Phil you can have anything in moderation. It just depends who is doing the moderating.

I'm off to take out the empties, it's glass day tomorrow.
