If we are talking about the same pub and I think there has only ever been one in Birmingham centre, then it has been at least 35 years since I have been in there.

I don't think trams ever run up Cannon St did they? I think I rolled down it a few times after staggering out of the back door of Yates after a few docks. I don't suppose you can remember the Cellar Bar opposite Yates back door that was the first place in Birmingham to start selling draught Lager can you?
