There is more to Scotland than neeps and tatties, what about porridge

Wouldn't a Scot have spelled it "Porage", Phil?

This is a photo of a Cumberland Jack that I mentioned on the games thread. I found 97 of these stashed away in a property we demolished in the 80's.

I thought on first glance that they were sovereigns, but on closer inspection I could see they were not made from gold. I still thought they must be worth something, but on doing some research I found them to have no value.

I sold them all on Ebay at prices ranging from £2 to £10. I sometimes think I should have hung on to them as they will only increase in value I suppose.

I have a Victorian token in my coin collection, I have had it since I was a kid, it is smaller than a farthing. I took it to a coin shop and they told me it was a card game token used in pubs..

VM

Thats what I was told the main use of these Cumberland jacks were, I found them with a pack of cards, the cards were ancient and were probably worth more than the tokens, but I threw them away.

Where did you take that shot Phil? Hippo's still aren't very common in Solihull.

Good Morning One and All.

Sunshine, here in Yardley, and almost 10°C, I think it may not last though, the aircraft vapour trails are already spreading out to form clouds.

Yes, as much as I like wild weather, I'm not going out in this, even I'm not that mad, at least it's forecast a good bank holiday, but there's one
drawback to that, the town will be full of b***y tourists.
I'm not that much of a killjoy, but I do like it a bit quieter, that's why I like the winter here, I had a coffee on the seafront a couple of weeks ago
whilst I was out taking photos, after the girl had served me she started talking and asking about cameras, and suddenly she said " I've seen you before, do you live here ?", I said yes, she got up went to the till and gave me 50p back, I charged you holiday makers price, and laughed, I won't be going there again, that's one thing I don't condone.
