hi john..yes i know that as our mom and dad were rewired 2 years ago...sent in a bunch of cowboys who had to travel to and from manchester every day...hardly ever turned up...what should have been a 5 day job turned into 6 weeks...they made so many mistakes..some of them quite dangerous the whole lot more or less had to be done again...plenty of damage which resulted in fifteen hundred pounds in compensation..letters of apology and personal visits from top housing officers..oh and flowers delivered to our mom...must say though that any work i have had carried out over the years ive had no problem with...quite the opposite but i shall still be watching like a hawk...

Ensure that the only kettle in the house is electric, and the gas cooker has a "fault".

They will fix up a temporary supply for their battery chargers anyway so you may not need to use the kettle ruse.

Don't keep them talking over a cup of tea, at all. A 20 minute minute break with every cuppa can take 2 hours out of the day and make a person lethargic and reluctant to get back into it.
Rewiring is an awful job and getting stuck in, almost non stop, is the only way I ever managed to get through them.
The worst part is at the end of the first and second days where some power and lighting has to be put back on safely for the night.

Lyn and VM, I bet if you was to say I CAN'T MAKE YOU A CUP OF TEA, THE POWERS OFF, WITHIN 5 SECONDS IT WOULD BE BACK ON.

Signman, I wouldn't be too surprised if you had taken these last week and painted the snow in yourself.

I reckon Signman has got it made. Lives in sunny Brighton, does just as he likes, and got a pub. SB

It's not my pub, it's my nephews, roll on the snow and the cold weather.
Why don't you lot get past the first few threads, it's a waste of time posting, because no one goes past the stupid games.
Sorry getting very bored with it all.

John I know it's your Nephews pub and read your posts with great interest as I jealously wish I was there in your situation mate. I read the notes from our Brighton correspondent every morning and answer them if you post as usual before I go out. As it's in your family as far as I was concerned it's your pub, though I know you don't own it. I didn't mean any offence and getting bored is not an option. SB

Sparkies are normally nice guys who know what they are doing, at least that's my opinion.
