What number Windsor St Lynne, it would have a lot to do with where it was. Windsor Street ran all the way from Richard St by the gasworks right down to Vauxhall Rd.

My rellie lived at 3 back of 213 Windsor St. He was at that address when he died in 1947.

Hi Lynne

I can't tell you much about 3/213 as that section of Windsor St had gone when we moved into Nechells in 1953/4. In fact it was one of the places that was first to come under the clearance hammer in the early 50's and was the location of what we knew as the Kellet St flats. As a matter of fact the section of Windsor St where your relative lived would now be under Kellet Rd.

Here are a couple of photos of back courts in Windsor St, the one with the little front wall must be one of the ones that was opened up in the early 1900's. They did this by demolishing one or two of the properties at the front of the court thus doing away with the entry tunnel entrance and letting some light and air into the court.

The other photo is of Kellet Rd that is probably built over where your relations house stood.

Don't know if this is any help. The c 1889 map shows back 213 in red. Here it is called Court 13, and runs up to the junction with coleman St

Mike thanks for the map, I've found another two rellies in the same street, but at different times, the numbers are 150 and 196 both Windsor St. Would it be possible to pinpoint where these are please. Thanks.
Lynne.

Lynne
They are marked on the c 1889 map below. I am pretty certain of 150, but with 196 i could be one building out. numbering is not absolutely clear

Hi Phil, the photos that you have posted, two of them I have not seen before thank you.
the one of Coulson Bros printers was on the opposite corner to the white horse pub at the junction of Holborn hill and Long acre as I only lived yards away from here back in the 50''s/60's.
The photo of Nechells power station (B hall ) is a new angle of a shot that I have not seen before as for the two saltley shots I have seen elsewhere.
I'll post a few pics and hoping you have not come across.Nechells 1960's' Railway Terrace and Long Acre corner, and the last steam Tram no8 what I think is outside the coliseum theater saltley road.

Whats up pudding, are you having a problem posting photo's? I think the site is experiencing a few problems of late we all have seemed to suffer problems with uploading anything over the last couple of weeks. When we post nothing seems to appear at the time except a little bit of text, but a couple of hours later a photo appears. Is that your problem?
