Phil, Before the pub was built or should I say Hotel ,which it was before it became a pub, it was a toll gate and the one legged man was the toll keeper.

Now that is the sort of information that would make the pub interesting to me. If it were my place I would decorate on that theme and have as much information photos and as many mementos of its past history as possible on the premises.
If it was victorian times today the owners would probably sign up a peg legged man to stand at the end of the bar. I think today thta would be frowned on

Phil All the isms are amde up by whoever wants to stir it. John Do i hear correctly that the council tax in your area is going down next year ?. I reckon that means they will be sacking the road maintenance people and press ganging residents to mend the roads to make up for it
