That's the one Phil, went round the back, and if we'd had a ladder could have got inside, I had to hold Lyn back from climbing up the wall,
ha, ha only joking.

Why was that john, did she think there was still some beer in there that needed rescuing?

Which pub you going to Lyn.
Remember when I was in Brum last and we took some photos of the pub in Park Street,( was it the FOX), is it still standing.

John

if you are talking about the Fox & Grapes in Park St the last I heard it was closed (see photo) but I couldn't say if it still is.

Phil

Yes The Fox and Grapes is still boarded up and well Derelict, I can't see it being rescued now. There is far too much re-developement in that area right now.

I started out with nothing and Iv'e still got most of it left

At one time redevelopment meant pulling down old derelict buildings that had no further use. Now it is just a euphemism for tearing down any building that stands in the way of developers making a quick buck.

Denise

That is not the way to look at things, if you are not very mechanically minded then you should be glad of at least this rudimentary safety check on your vehicle. Especially if you are like most people and don't have your car serviced at the correct intervals.

I see that the other week in Birmingham 40% of taxis (black cabs & private hire) stopped for spot checks by the ministry of transport were given fault notices. Some were even taken off the road. I think a taxi MOT is twice yearly as well in fact I'm not sure if it is every four months or is that buses?

John

I had seen a couple before, I hadn't seen the one of Christchurch in Sparkbrook and the one in Olton is a bit of a mystery to me. Where exactly is it?

John

I know where the convent is or rather was, it is adjacent to the much larger Friary (Monastry) next door on St Bernards Rd in Olton. As the convent is no longer operational, I believe it has just been converted into apartments.

If you are interested in buying one take a look here, the cheapest one was about half a million I think and they are all gone.

I think the postcard you have shown may have been where the card was sent from it might have been from a local house are there are built in that sort of style.

This photo shows the rear of the convent now.
