John

I hadn't even heard of the park, but on reading your link I looked it up, I think that we have to accept that children have been getting hurt in parks ever since the first one was opened. The parks department can't be expected to keep an eye on every child in the park. I think this is down to a campaign by the local press about where the £millions of pounds were spent in the 2 years the park was closed for very few changes to the park itself. I think local people expected much more.

Hi all,yes been reading about it all in the local paper.I live just yards from this park,it is oppasite the memorial gardens. It is a lovely park and after obtaining a lottery grant the council has had all the monuments cleaned up,new pathways round the pool built including new railings and it is all looking very nice but the rate of work done is so slow.

The previous play area was very nice, been with my Grandson many times. They started work on it and it has had several bad reports,I have not been round it recently.Too much moving traffic for the dogs.

Afraid our generation were used to dangerous games, remember the high slides with concrete underneath??

I am sure it will all get sorted out, must go and have a look.

The thing I liked was they had a mobile cafe so you could buy a coffee and a bacon sarnie even on quiet mornings in the park and I think the plans included a permenent building for coffee etc but I liked it the way it was,as parks go it had an old fashioned feel to it and was a mini outing.
