Phil, We had a pair of Heron's in Yardley in 2009, I found out there were two by accident, I was photographing one in the top of a tree and noticed another sitting in the tree behind.
They used to be straight in whenever we threw out left over pizza in the morning, they must have been watching us because the pizza had only just hit the ground.
This shot was taken on a miserable November day.

Good morning all, we have a fine covering of snow here. unless we have more I don't expect it to last. Volty the bird that landed on my roof looked a little larger than that with a longer beak. Are Crane's a larger bird. could it have been one of those?

Thanks Signman, I brightened it a little but the sun wouldn't come out.

Phil, I don't know much about Cranes, I suspect they are very large, I think Herons come in a larger size as well, their nests on high in Portugal are enormous, I believe there are a least two types of Heron, as in white and Grey so more research is required.

Denise,
There is one at a cross roads, in a village very near to Faro, that has been there many years, I last saw it either last year or the year before.
With the new motorway as an alternative route west some of the old sights are bypassed depending on the route chosen.

Denise

Stay away from foreign clime's and spend all your hard earned in the UK. We need and deserve it more than they do, besides we are helping to keep enough of them now without giving them extra.
