More likely due to mixing with people, there are so many people that have a cold or flu or something at the moment it's difficult to avoid catching something.
Especially as some things are contagious before the symptoms show.

Good morning everyone, surprise surprise, it's snowing in Brum. This is my last full day at work it's been taking an extra 30-45 minutes to get home this week.
If we have a decent fall today I may need search and rescue to get me tonight. I really do not want to walk from Tyseley to Sheldon.
Half a day left to do tomorrow and the a well earned rest.

weather forcast Met office at 5.20 today.
The very cold spell will continue.

Today:

Snow showers in eastern parts today, extending into the Midlands and North Wales for a time. Elsewhere, remaining cold with low cloud and freezing-fog lifting in places to allow some weak winter sunshine, particularly in the far west.

Tonight:

Snow showers probably becoming confined to NE England and E Scotland. Elsewhere dry and very cold with a widespread hard frost. Bitter northeasterly winds picking up over parts of England.

Thursday:

Many places dry with a better chance of sunshine than today; isolated snow-showers in the east. Cloudy in the far-southeast with a biting northeasterly wind. Very cold everywhere with widespread-frost.

Hi Lyn your name wasn't showing that's only up when you are online. When you shut down it disappears.
Its been snowing since about four o'clock but only very fine.
