Why would you wear wellies in any pond, especially if they are like and got a hole in them. Well they would have to wouldn't they or else I wouldn't get my feet in them.
Lyn SB is right about breaking the ice in that way,try keeping a ball floating on it and then lift it and you will have a gap.Think you are supposed to do that all the time.

Just whack the pool with a hammer, then you can have fish for tea. Or at least the cat can. Never had a pool in my garden, I wouldn't risk it with the all the kids running around.

thanks den..at least someone has come to my rescue...lol...yes ive heard about using a ball..so do i just lift it out in the morning and put it back before it freezers over again...
