As far as pulling up the carpet goes. Watch what you are doing. In very old houses of the type you live in, I have seen cases where people have done similar and exposed a myriad of problems.

Phil

Well the lounge one is up now Phil and dissapointing as the boards are very paint splattered and semi stained...........

It smelt very woody in there this morning.

Got to decide on what to do now......with the dogs it has to be practical.

Good morning all.well what a wet and miserable morning it is too.Causing havoc with the Golf. Not that I play but know a lot of people enjoy it.

Need to go to the tip so that will be fun.Not.Just need number one son to return my car from doing MOT,that was several days ago......mothers who pay little are not given top service.

Hope you all have a good day .[Skipping Happy]

Denise, laminate is the way to go, providing the floor is fairly level, very easy to put down and easy to clean.

Denise

If they are real boards and they have no rot of any sort, you could hire an industrial floor sander for the day. It will bring them up lovely and you will be able to varnish them.

Just make sure that all the nails are countersunk, Get hubby on his knees (he should be used to it like most of us blokes are) going round with a nail punch and hammer.

very good LOL

well Jim walked the dogs and they all got very wet,he reckons blokes don't use an umbrella.[Let Me Think]

I walked into town and my brolly saved the day...............

Phil I have thought of sanding but do you think the dog's claws will wreck it ??
