So it isn't Hurst Street then?
I don't have a photo to hand for comparison.

John

I'm not sure because it looks so familiar, I have an idea that it is the upper end of the Soho Rd. I have got fed up of it nagging at me so I have sent off an email to the police museum to see if they know. If in doubt as a copper.

This is a copy of the reply I got from the curator of the Police Museum.

"Phil

I suspect it is in Aston possibly near 5 ways but cannot be sure.

It seems that he is as lost as we are, I don't think there is any chance of it being where he suggests.

The canopy sign has to be Hippodrome, doesn't it?
How many Hippodromes were there in Ansells advertising areas.

Someone on another site rightly named the location as outside the Birchfield Cinema on Birchfield Rd, Perry Barr. I knew I recognised it somehow. I used to sit close to there in the 60's every Friday afternoon when my boss collected our wages from the bank a few doors away.
