I also woke up at five and couldn't go back to sleep, so I've been doing some materials ordering.
Was it an earthquake?

Morning all,
I've been up since about 4.30 doing drawings etc., just having some breakfast and then I'm off to the Wesrbourne for a couple of hours, only putting another coat of paint on 2 signs 8x4.
I must say I'm very impressed by the new Farrow and Ball water based paint, probably the best I've ever used, but, at £90 a gallon it should be.
morning john...thought you was having a rare lie in....£90 a gallon...it must be good paint...

John,
That is one I don't understand, water based won't it wash off in the first downpour?

Phil at £90 per gallon and knowing John I'm surprised it's not Vodka based

Phil, no chance it's the finest paint in the world, made to 4 times the industry standard, all natural materials, (don't ask me what) and used
by National Trust on all their properties, they also do wallpaper Lyn if you need any more about a £100 a roll, check their website out.
Farrow and Ball.
I've put another coat on the boards, nothing I can do now until tomorrow, story of my life, watching paint dry.
The price I understand my wife has bought wallpaper at near enough £100 per roll in the past, to be quite honest I wouldn't have paid a fiver a roll for it. There again she is probably right when she describes me as "a Philistine". Its the water based, surely something water based is going to dissolve in the rain if used outside. I have heard of it being used inside and thought nothing of it, but outside it just doesn't compute for me. Their must be some sort of a binding chemical used.

As I understand it Phil the water based paints have an acrylic bit in them which polymerizes to make a make a sort of plastic film over the surface. This process would take place (I presume) by the action of light and air. I gather , which is understandable if it is a plastic type material, that the films are more flexible and don't crack like the old solvent paints. One problem, I gather, is that the older sorts don't dry well in damp atmospheres. So unless John's paint is an improvement, there might be problems in the present weather.

When I decorate I normally buy Home magazines to see what the fashion is and all those posh people use Farrow and Ball ,never Dulux or Wilko LOL.
They do have some nice shades though.
