The earliest pub in Dale End I can remember was the STAR VAULTS towards Bull Street on the right, there was a book shop next door which I used to frequent when I worked in Stafford Street 1956-62.

Morning all,

My education is lacking, I never knew or used "The Hole in the Wall" where in Dale End was it exactly, because the only pubs I recall on Dale End were the Stone Cross, The Bell and The Star and I never used any of them. What years was the Hole in the Wall open, I have heard lots about it and the only thing I can think of it must have been only open for a short while whilst I was on my travels around the country.

Morning Phil the Hole in the wall ( which changed to Saramoons) was opposite Mcdonalds.
It awas agood pub at first. It opened around the same time as the Top Rank Suite which was farther down on the same side.
You wouldn't have liked it in later years.

There are just too many cars on the road this time of year and they all want to get where they are going without hold ups. This leads to drivers taking chances that they wouldn't usually take. Myself I tend to use the car less in the run up to Christmas as every little bit helps to ease the congestion.
