I don't remember the shops being open on boxing day back in the 70s.In fact I seem to remember that at one time the sales started on 1st jan . Of course that might have been a previous life !

Mike
I think you may be right, it's an experience that I have never enjoyed/suffered in my life. I have never been or taken the wife to an opening day of a sale in my life. I have always assumed that it is only made up of the stuff that they have failed to sell all the year round with only one or two bargains thrown in for good measure.
i will go along with that phil coupled with the fact that there are sales on all year round these days....which brings to mind a carpet shop down perry barr...they had a closing down sale sign up for about 10 years....
Quote: astoness wrote in post #21027hi den...at least you have a short day tomorrow...good luck with the sales i hope you get that coat..
ive just opened a tin of roses...just hope i know when to stop..
Lyn you wouldn't know when to stop if you were chewing on the empty tin
very funny SB..actually i counted the wrappers and i had eaten 9 and as i like even numbers thought i had better have just another one to round it up..
Lyn you might be in for a shock this year. I understand that the Roses tins have less in than last year, so when you have eaten them all if you haven't already, you will think you have eaten more than you have 1 As to the 2 year sale, there used to be a department store in Oxford st (London) called Marshall & Snelgroves . when I had to go to meetings in London i often passed it, and their cssoing down sale went on for over 2 years. Mind you they definitely boughty stuff in specially, though I'm not sure how well it sold - I'd never before seen a size 22 mini skirtuntil i went in there during their sale !

no shock with the rosies mike..i knew they had less in...mind you there is still enough in them to last me a day or two....oh crikey the mini skirt was deffinately made for the slimmer person....as a teenager i used to wish i was a bit bigger if you get my meaning...i was quite skinny with the affectionate knickname of twiggy to my friends.. but on the plus side of that i could wear the mini and the hotpants with no trouble...
