When we lost our last two cats I found great comfort in the visits the local cats started to pay us.
They are no replacement for your little best friend but they ease the pain.

Denise

We thought of fostering dogs in the past and have several times been approached to do so. I think I would have been fine with the whole thing, but my wife said she would not have been able to hand them over after caring for them for a while. It's the same reason why we never fostered children earlier in our lives as it was something we gave a great deal of thought to.

If you were out in the garden next to me at that ungodly hour making a racket I'm afraid you would get treated to some "00" pellets in the seat of the pants.

The letting go is going to be hard but I have been told you can keep the animal if you really can't bear to part.
Westies often have skin problems and some can get in a pretty bad way.I was lucky in that respect with Belle, she did not have that kind of problem.
I will be looking after some dogs who need attention to their skin so have a lot to learn.I have been told the charity provide creams and special shampoo
also special diet.
I think with the fostering you have to keep in mind that when the dog you have been caring for gets a new home there will be yet another dog coming in who is without a home.

Who said I was making any noise, I know how to be a good neighbour.

I think that people who creep around their gardens at six in the morning in stealth mode are even more to worry about.

No Phil I am quite capable of being out in the garden at 6 in the morning and finding nice quiet jobs to do before it gets hot. Unlike some lazy buggers wo stay in bed until lunchtime and then say its to hot to anything. Also not forgetting some people who have their gardens covered in slabs so nothing has to be done. As I am in a factory for five days a week its nice to get some air to the hot bits (which is most of em).

I thought it might be from standing to close to the heater, because in my experience of most British workers they never turn the heating off even in the middle of summer and all they do is stand by the heater drinking tea all day.

Our heater at work goes off in the spring, gets serviced and stays off until autumn. Just for the record I have never drunk tea in my life, I can't even stand the smell of the stuff.
We stop for 30 mins for lunch and have a drink during the morning and a drink during the afternoon. We could have another drink anytime but rarely do.
If your workers stood by the heaters all day drinking tea they were not very well supervised.
Phil in todays economic climate very few businesses are over staffed, most are short staffed. More often than not staff work longer hours than they are paid for.
In a business such as ours we can only produce work to satisfy orders. As oders come in they are satisfied. Materials cost money they are ordered the day before (nobody carries stock any more). There is only so much cleaning and tidying up to do.

Well good morning all, I have now been up for over an hour and I will be gad when it cools down. I don't normally have trouble sleeping but I'll make an exeption for this week. Its great to have a good summer but this is getting beyond a joke.

Evening and a very hot one it is too.
Work was like being in a bakehouse today but I would have this over the winter anytime.
