I'm confused by SB, as usual.
Why was he on a bus yesterday, on his usual route, yet he wasn't going to work?
Does he not know how to take a day off.

SB, allow me to explain. When you don't have to go to work it means just that. It does not mean that you can catch a later bus.
If you have any trouble with this concept you only have to do what you think I do on most days.

I was on a later bus you Dolly.
I wanted to be somewhere when they opened at Nine o'clock.

I didn't sober up each morning, I went to work drunk the worst I could do was fall over my chair.

Had a nice time in the park today, took the wife, the granddaughter and the great grandson. We had a picnic and just lazed around in the sun, played a few ball games with the g-grandson, but I had to rest more than I played.

What a lovely day today.
I was working but the sun being out makes things seem a bit better.
