I haven't been on a pushbike since I was 15 and I think that was the time we went to Bewdley and I had to walk back because I tore my tyre to shreds on a piece of metal. Three of my mates rode all the way home and then came back to meet me with a spare wheel but missed me as I took another route back.
The laughable thing was I pushed the bike all the way back, when if I had dumped it I could have got the bus back. When I got back I never used the bike again. I decided that a better means of transport was in order.
Thought so.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

The thing is our bikes cost nothing, they were cobbled together from two or three old scrap bikes and we went everywhere on them. Tell the kids today to get on their bikes and run down to Bewdley or Worcester and they think you are nuts. We used to do something like that every weekend take an old army bell tent and a few blankets and a couple of tins of beans spend the night and come back the next day. Great fun.
