hi mike, its a new amphibious assult ship to be called HMAS Canberra 3 - it carries 6 attack helecoppters. can carry 1000 troops, 150 vehicals including M1A1 Abraham tanks, it has a mix of transport and battlefield support copters. and a fully equiped hospital -we dont build them all in one place the hull is built in Adelaide then towed to williamstown (melb) where i live, they add the superstructure - weapons ect, we also build submarines here, and we build ships for the New Zealand navy. This a british company BAE who bought out Tennix systems a couple of years ago - they also do a lot of ship repair cargo ships.

in reality I guess they will be used for disaster releaf in the region to our north Papa, Soloman Islands, Indonesia, Fiji ect they all have regular Sunamis, Cyclones ect

I can tell you we had a very clear sky last night and a very very foggy morning, Melbourne airport was shut till lunchtime.

I can never understand why in the UK and other citys around the world that they can land aircraft in fog - yet here a bit of haze causes delays. with the GPS systems and clever planes they can travel point to point without any help, and there are aircraft flying (in the UK) that can take off and land without a pilot,

still its winter 15c today down to 4c overnight. I get grumpy in winter, I should be on a beach in Bali or Puket, still no more breaks till christmas

enjoy your summer - Im english this summer as its not looking good for the cricket LOL
