Like most men, I missed most of the growing up part of my children & grandchildren. This is why I really am enjoying being able to be a part of the growing up of my great grandchildren.

SHELDONBOY CALLING ASTONESS, Lyn would you know of a butchers shop, on Victoria Rd. Aston, A Hughes, opposite the swimming baths. It was there around the 1950s. Of course you would be far too young to have shopped in it but you may know a little bit about it from your mom. Any info would be appreciated. Many thanks SB

In 1950 the shop was owned by T.D.Marsh Ltd at 285 Victoria Rd, and as you say your Arthur D Hughes must have taken over some time in the 50's because in the next Kelly's Trade Directory I have he is listed as the owner. Then by 1973 in the next Directory I have there is no listing for 285.

most annoying sb ...ive just checked me files and i have a great shot of the baths but it shows nowt of the butchers on the opposite side...

Hi all............how lovely to win the comp and be back on my fave forum.....we had a lovely week and sad it is over................I am going back next week just me and mum and she loves to shop till she drops...no lollling around and everything has to be kept squeaky clean.the dogs are nervous already.
