Hi John

Southmead was a bit too far out of town for me, I had flats in Whiteladies and St Pauls. St Pauls is quite close to Clifton. I used a good club in St Pauls called the Bamboo Club. It was mainly a West Indian Club but they accepted us with no problem and there was never any trouble. I think they just thought of us as those strange white kids.

Sorry SB

I wouldn't allow any woman in my company to drink beer or stout. At a push a glass of lager or cider but that would be about the limit. There are far too many nicer drinks for a lady to have. I'm sorry but thats how old fashioned I am.

On the odd occasion that my mother and I were on talking terms, she would seldom go out with me. She was one of the old school of women who drank 2 halfs of mild at a time. I would never buy her that and would grudgingly buy her a lager and then only half at a time.

It's not so bad, last night was my usual Saturday joint of fillet steak with roasters and veg and a bottle of Rioja. My main meal of the week.

Lyn

What you drink when you are out on your own or with others is your own affair, what I said was I wouldn't allow a woman in my company to drink beer or stout. It's none of my business what they drink when not with me, nor would I think any the less of them.
