Did you manage to set it on fire?

Phil, I was able to grap the end of the A4 sheet as it was leaving the printer and pull it through more quickly. The noise and smell told me something was wrong.

The surface of the photo paper was blistering and bubbling and emitting smoke and fumes, so it wasn't alight but I think if I hadn't pulled it out it would have caught fire.

It was as near as I want to get.
It wasn't deliberate, I was experimenting with gift tags and thought that photo paper might give a good result.
All the clues were there, even the printer setting said (laser) in brackets to indicate that it should be laser paper and not inkjet.
I get dafter by the minute.

I remember years ago at work someone (not me) wanted to print some transparencies on a laser printer for an overhead projector (don't think anyone nowadays would know what that was) and used ordinary plastic sheets that were just supposed to be written on and not the secial sheets. The result was the same - very expensive mistake

Two projectors John. Do you take it in turn giving talks to yourself? No, seriously, I assume they are your museum. About 8 years ago I went to a meeting and someone there demanded an overhead projector to say what he was going to say. Everyone went round and round, and finally they dug one up from the cellar or somewhere. Today I think he would be out of luck. One thing I really used to be impressed with as a kid was the epidiascope they used at school. It was really impressive, all brassy and shiny, and I should think it was probably 50 years old then. I always wanted one.

Mike I occasionally still use them, if I have a truck to do I use them to transfer the design on to the side of the truck,saves me hours drawing it full size.
I saw an epidiascope in a car boot sale a few months ago and nearly bought it £50, but commonsense prevailed and I didn't, it would have had to have its own room, was nice though.

I'd never thought of them being used for that. I can see how it would be very useful

Why is it when I log on using IE8 browser I don't get the forum header banner. Yet when I log on with Firefox I have no problem. I seem to be having a few problems with IE8 at the moment which is a shame as it's my preferred choice of browser.

I get the banner Phil, but not sure what version I am using as it just says IE (64-bit) when I right-click on sysmbol

I don't know what is wrong, but I can't see any images now other than avatar images no matter what browser I'm using. Anybody else having a problem or is it my machine?

I went to the alleys & passageways thread and seem to get all the pictures ok.
