Hello Val at the Green,
Welcome to the forum.
You were actually successful in joining on the 25th August under the name "computer club acocks green libra".
As double memberships are not allowed I expect Phil will delete the one that didn't work for you.

Val

In fact all four or was it five registrations were accepted so I had do delete them as only one membership is allowed per IP address and Email address. But I think we have got you all sorted now.

SB recently gave instruction on how to arrange our posts in order of most recent at the top.
I thought some members may be interested in my shortcut that displays the latest posts from across the Forum. It is taken from somewhere on the forum but I can't find it at the moment.

To create a shortcut on your desktop just right click on this link and selct "Create a Shortcut" from the dropdown menu......... forum.php?show=last
Now hover the mouse pointer over your desktop and right click again, this time selct "Paste Shortcut".
I named mine "BT Latest" and placed it on the Links toolbar in Internet Explorer. Whenever I come to the forum or want to update the page, I just click on the shortcut.

If you can make this easier Volty that's great. But if I right click on your link I don't get that option. SB

What's the problem-just scroll down to newest posts end of story.

I never said there was a problem I find it very easy to open up with the latest posts first. Others may think the same.

Graham, don't you find that you miss posts that way.

No John when I go to newest posts it's easier to wind back to the previous post.
As we are posting at over 100 post per day, with my work hours, evening meetings to attend and between 5-15 emails to read or send there is no way I could read them all anyway.
I just keep up as best I can. I start on here at 5 am as you know. Sometimes I even find time to sleep, SB

Graham, get yourself a secretary, think Lyn could be up for it, she can do shorthand and phone duties .

Yes a secretary would be very nice, Lyn could even come on here for me, mind you she doesn't do 5 am starts, it would be a couple of hours later.
As you say a secretary would be useful, a stand in even better.

So Signman, that explains why you sometimes refer to something as being in the post above. I didn't like the latest on the last page method of access because it entails some extra time clicking, only to discover my latest post was the last but one. And you have to do that for every thread.
Using my shortcut I can see which threads I have yet to read so I don't miss a thing, and my preference is set to display the lastest post at the top of the page, as SB says, it is much easier to scroll down or go back a page or two until my Avatar appears then I read from that point.

SB. Try it again in the quote box. It may be something to do with the way this forum modifies hyperlinks, I get the option "Copy Short" every time.
Alternatively, right click and choose "Properties", then copy the URL from the properties window.
Or, perhaps better still.....right click and choose "Add to Favourites" then save the link to your chosen place in your favourites. In MS IE I put mine under "Links" so it is always visible.
If you are using Chrome you may not have any of these options as they generate no income for Google.

Thank you VM that's very clear, I can't try it because I already have latest post first. I was trying to make it easier for other members.
Just go to options and settings it's easy Honest.

Is "latest post first" the same thing as "most recent threads". I'm sure I am getting both.
