My grandfather used to grow sunflowers, he once grew some in the front garden which was only about six foot by four foot. They grew to about 10 ft high. The most amazing thing was that no one touched them and they were allowed to grow without molestation. I just can't imagine that happening today.

Help just moved dustbin in the garden underneath is a lizard type thing! dark grey about 6/7inch long husband thought it was dead turned it over it is yellow underneath NOT DEAD gone under the other bin any ideas what it may be?

It looks to me like a cross between an Artichoke and a Palm.

I missed this post until now. Well? Has anyone else ever seen one, I certainly haven't noticed any.
I have a stem with no flower at all, something bit it off when the plant was only 18" high, I don't suppose it will grow much now.

Mentioning sunflowers has made me think. The other day I passed a house where the front garden was full of them. Unusually I never had a camera with me, now I can't remember where it was. But if I pass by again I will get a snap.
