I don't know where the actual photo was taken. except that it wasn't Birmingham. I was only joking that it looked like my local. It has got a tea urn on bar, in my local that would have gone straight out the window.

Well I have been accused of most things in my time, but never of drinking tea in a pub.

There's a lot to look at in that photo.
That billiard table looks like it would hit the table lights if raised back into position and there appears to be a cue defying gravity on table.

I'll tell you something, having worked in demolition a lot. I wouldn't have needed Elf & Safety to tell me it was in a dangerous condition and to keep out.

When you have seen the things happen with dangerous buildings that I have, not even if they had whisky on tap. Believe me if it can happen it usually does.

It's amazing Phil how many workers think that they are unbreakable. Just a few years ago for instance there were 10,000 reportable injuies every year just involving fork trucks that includes several deaths. You don't think as you go of to work that it may be your last day, SB

I used to have to go to courses on Health & Safety every year to keep our certification up to scratch. The first course I went I was amazed on how little some of the candidates knew about simple straight forward common sense matters of safety. The figures that the lecturer quoted for yearly accidents and fatalities in the building industry were unbelievable. Though after seeing and listening to some of the candidates put forward as safety officers by some of these businesses I can see why they would be so great.

Phil before I entered the Printing trade, I was in the paper Trade working for a very large company. I was elected Union Health and Safety Rep. A position I carried out for many years. I was also the Chief First Aider mainly because I was a Red Cross Ambulanceman at the time. I also took part in the site safety audits which were just being brought in then.
It was surprising how many people would tell the boss how unsafe certain things were and what the company should be doing about them. But if you asked them what the workers responsibilities were according to The Health and Safety at Work Act most of them hadn't a clue. Despite me telling them individually, giving them booklets and running a presentation.
To most people HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK is what you get not what you do. SB

So, I went in a local pub with some friends last night, yes SB, I do have friends.
It wasn't the first time I have been in this one but there are a few things I never noticed the last time.
It is a scruffy barn, overrun with kids and tv screens, the state of the decor indicates it hasn't been cleaned since well before the smoking ban.
The "Beer Garden" is misdescribed, it should have read kids playground for smokers.
The toilets were a real delight.
Anyway, although the three beers we tried were very good I would be unlikely to take anyone there again.
If this is the way pubs are going then it's no wonder they are closing at such a rate.
Perhaps the Lyndon has a captive audience, it certainly didn't capture me.
