Service Announcement

#130 by Voltman , Wed Oct 16, 2013 9:09 am

Members will have noticed that the forum is running a bit on the slow side.
Patience is required.

Many links on our forum are straightforward hyperlinks that bring up a new html page, these links require little processing and are quick to load.
Other items such as the Reply button, Smilies, Upload button, Submit button, etc, are scripted items. These initiate a small program to run on the host server which then carries out a number of actions which are required to complete the chosen function.
During busy periods the scripts are slow to load and the programs have to timeshare the host's processor time.

Given sufficient time, without further interference, these functions should complete.
Clicking again on any link or button will reset the script and therefore extend the waiting time required.
Constant clicking of a button may prevent it from ever launching the associated program, particularly during slow periods..
