Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)We had a swarm of bees in the garden four years ago. I saw them coming and closed all the house windows and alerted the neighbours to do the same. The bees formed a big black cloud and eventually settled in a willow tree, it was late afternoon and they were still there in the morning. We could see the scouts coming and going, doing their waggle dances to tell what they had found for a new home. They left about 10am, as quickly as they arrived.
Every time they do this they create a new colony, so swarming is something we need to see more of.
Sounds a bit like a bunch of travellers descending on a car park or beauty spot. Except bees produce useful honey and are a product of nature, whereas many travellers are just a nasty blot on the landscape, a blot much od which remains after they have left
