So whats new? I can see private cars being banned from most inner city roads soon. All that will be allowed is public transport, freight, emergency services politicians, councillors and those with special passes (meaning they have got money).

Corporation Street will be interesting, The route from Snowhill Station along Bull Street, right into Corporation Street down into Stephensons Place to The New, New Street Station entrance will be totally trams only, no cars, Buses, Taxis or owt else.

I have had a completed buss pass application form on file complete with photos since I was 60 years of age. that was four years ago and I have still yet to send it in. I only wanted it for when we are on holiday as I understand you can use them anywhere in the UK.
I don't think I will be using it in Birmingham if I get one, having had my first experience of Birmingham buses last week when I had to collect my new glasses. I have to say I didn't enjoy the experience at all. I also have to add that I thought the £1.60 fare for a few stops (6) amounted to daylight robbery.

Yes Phil you can use your OAP pass anywhere in the country. Local trains too.

If it was a simple thing like popping it in the post then I would send off for one, but you have to go to all the trouble of calling in to a local council office to get it don't you?

I think the initial application means a personal visit but renewals are automatic (at least they are here) and we can't use them on the train. We use ours quite often now that petrol is so expensive. Sitting on a bus is a new experience. the conversations, the sights, the smells. It's a whole new experience believe me.

Phil Solihul opposite Firkins bakers near to the Touchwood centre is the National Express office. They should be able to sort it for you, the one in Brum did it for me.

Thanks SB
The next time I'm up there I must remember to put the application in my pocket.
