French jets in action over Libya

#1 by Sheldonboy , Sat Mar 19, 2011 6:06 pm

French military jets are preventing forces loyal to Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi from attacking the rebel-held city of Benghazi, French President Nicolas Sarkozy says.

It is believed to be the first act of intervention since the UN voted on Thursday for a no-fly zone over Libya.

Western and Arab leaders have been meeting in Paris to agree a course of action to confront Col Gaddafi.

"Our air force will oppose any aggression," Mr Sarkozy said and called for an immediate ceasefire

I don't understand.
We had a convicted Libyan terrorist, who brought down a commercial airliner onto a Scottish village, in captivity and let him go free because he felt a bit poorly.
The Libyans decide they don't all like each other and we bomb the crap out of them and kill dozens of them for doing nothing to us.
Not only is civil war a spectator sport it is something we really can't afford to attend.
We can't have libraries but we can throw missiles away like they grow on trees. I want my tax money back.

I heard on the radio today, the Tommahawk missiles we are firing cost £8 million each. Last night alone we fired six of them. God help us with this war mongering bloody government.

I'd like to know how anything costs £8 million, once you have got the design and production sorted how do they cost that much. No wonder countries like ourselves like to set up as arms dealers.

They are flying Supercomputers that carry wickedly powerful fuel system, have incredible guidance systems and are extremely explosive when they want to be. Not to mention Backhanders.

I wouldn't waste whisky on a Rolls Royce, besides diesel engines don't work on spirits, paraffin or cooking oil maybe.

SB

In all honesty using alternative fuels is not a good idea. The Customs & Excise people have vans that stop you and dip your tank. If you are not using the correct fuel the fine is horrendous, and they can even confiscate your vehicle.
