According to central news tonight that new line was due to open same time as central station last september ,but a spokes man said the problem was with the track this time ,it needs grinding a bit as it is a few millimetres out.

I would think so ,usually with big contracts like that there are penalty clauses drawn into the contract when it is first drawn up.Would think by now it has cost the contractor's a packet.

Don't forget this is all new technology, there are bound to be problems.

Laying steel track in the road must be a terribly difficult job.
Just getting materials to site must take forever never mind getting access for the worker(s).

Perhaps Balfour Beatty are not doing so badly, the Dubai Tramway took ages to build but that was mostly due to lack of funds.
Dubai Tramway

They should all copy Lisbon where there is a massive tram system that climbs hills and goes all over the place.
In fact they finished so far ahead of schedule they managed to get hold of our trams, probably because we don't need them yet.

The odd thing is that all the Birmingham trams in Lisbon look like they were made 100 years ago.
That's what I call forward planning.

It won't run because it will be affected by leaves on the track, snow and any other excuse they can come up with. Whatever happened to great British engineering?

It won't work because it's exponetially, subjugated by inexplicable forensically manufactured globular nextradine. Isn't it obvious.
