Oh yes Joe our conkers came from Chelmsley Wood. A fantastic wood until it was infested with people and their houses.

If I remember right it showed you on telly, I think it was norfolk every autumn they have a conker competition,and it,s all serious stuff.

Anyone remember george bainse's bakery in finch road of lozell's road .Remember going there for mom for a two pound loaf cost sixpence farthing, it was still hot out of the oven,got cussed for picking at it .

I remember Bainse's shops, but didn't know the bakery. i never knew farthings, in fact until I left school I didn't know much about money at all. Then I started work with the big money. £4.10/- per week then I had to give my mom half of that plus my bus fair. So I wasn't left with a lot.
