I went to the Onion fair as a kid but like Dennis can't remember much about it. It was a lot bigger than any other fair I had been to.

I have just read that Pat Collins used to be the owner of the onion fair. Pat was born 12 May 1859 and died 9 December 1943 Pat Collins fair is still going. When I was young I always went to Bob Wilsons fair and for a while worked there.

When we were kids we always went to Bob Wilsons Fair on Kents Moat park, it was a regular venue for years. I seem to remember my Brother in law Barry as an Electrician worked on Bob Wilsons narrow boat at Stratford.

Me and my mates use to go to the onion fair quite often in years gone by.Does it still exist,? i suppose not .

No mate it would be the Garlic Fair these days anyway.

You mean it would'nt smell of hot dog's and candy floss,and burgers,it's not a fair without the right smells,

Nothing smells like that anymore Jo it's against health and safety rules.

Health and safety is farsical it's crippl'ing the kid's of today imagine us not throwing thing's at each other ,not climbing trees not getting into a scrap with other gang's todays kid's lives must be very boring .

Kiss chase is probably not allowed these days in case the kids get pregnant
