Thanks for the warning, but I blame the phone companies for allowing this sort of thing to happen. They are the ones who have to pay over this money to these crooked companies as they are the ones who issue these numbers and manage them. They shouldn't pay them and they should be held responsible for any money fiddled out of customers.

The number 020 723 9665 is bogus.
Also no numbers start 06. 0906 is premium rate and mentioned on tinterweb.
Also on the interweb it is claimed that this was shut down in 2005 and every year is resurrected as a joke.
Further more the charge quoted is £1.50.
I don't believe the police sent this message out, it isn't literate or correct.
So who's scamming who SB?

The number is not Bogus I missed a digit.
It should read
0207 239 6655
This is definitely from a Police email

OK SB, the police are scaremongering, complete with spelling mistake, along the lines you state.

It would of course make more sense to shut the number down and investigate where the cards come from and where the money goes. But in the mean time PANIC.
