SB..they did not come up last year as the red ants marched to the left hand side of my garden and they destroy the roots of most plants..cant get rid of the pesky things and so i now have raised tubs on that side of the garden...

Lyn one way of getting rid of Red Ants.
Locate the entrance of a nest and place an upturned pot over it - use a clay pot which will not be blown away. An empty tin can will work as well. After a few days the ants will have migrated to the surface with their white larvae and they can be swept up. They make a nice feast for chickens or on the bird-table.

Thanks Den, they were rubbish last year, but we found an infestation of Lily Beatle (no Phil she didn't come from Liverpool). But we found a good treatment and they have done well this year.

Did you know that Lily beetles make a squeaking noise if you annoy or threaten them?

Morning all

damp and cold here at the moment, woke up this morning all aches and pains and hardly able to move. Must be all that kneeling and bending yesterday erecting that playhouse. I think I'm going back to bed if it doesn't ease off.
