John how many coats of paint would you normally put on an outdoor sign to weatherproof it, and how long would you expect it to last? SB

Morning SB,
I normally put 1 primer, 2 undercoats and 1 finish coat, and would expect the sign to last a minimum of 10 years, under normal weather conditions, down here the salt air makes them deteriate a lot quicker, usually giving only a 3-4 year span before they have to be re-done.

I have to erect the scaffold tower today to remove the projecting sign for re-furbishment, and they've forecast heavy rain, so I'm going to get wet, it has to be done today to fit in with the time frame I've allowed for the complete job, and I've only hired it for a week at a cost of
£237+vat.

That should be nice, lets's hope it's not too windy.
