Why have they lost business, has it something to do with the new outlets nearby or has something else changed recently ?
Phil

I have never been in there, to be quite honest I don't even know where it is. I'm just going by what you have said and the fact that they have just opened all those new eateries in the Bull Ring.
Phil
tell you what phil ..with all these eateries springing up the cooker will be redundant soon..dont get me wrong i love to occasionally treat myself to a full english or even the odd pub lunch but wherever you go in the city centre you are met with tons of eating places..far too much in me face....i would rather see a few more butchers shops and veg shops dotted around...

No Phil my cafe is a bit quieter as are most businessess but the new places are no competition. Most are far more expensive. The cafe opens at 6 in the morning and closes at 5m the new places open around 10 in the morning and close around 8.
The beauty of my cafe, it may be rough and ready but its clean has good food and the service is excellent. Its a fish and chip shop, it does great salads, it also does roast dinners and of course you can have a mixture, we for example like fish and salad. Of cours plus the usual breakfast stuff.

I was in the supermarket the other day and I couldn't take my eyes off the womans trolley in front of us. She had about 50 Steak Slices (pies) about 50 steak & kidney pies, and about 50 tins of beans. I thought I hope the microwave doesn't break down.
I don't think any of the Generation below my age cook anymore, it seems to me that they live on takeaways and microwaves food. Even my son & daughter and their families although they were brought up on home cooked meals hardly ever seem to cook now. I have seen my son eating things that he would have just laughed at had his mother tried to give him.

I think some cafes buy their supplies at supermarkets as they are as cheap as some cash & Carrys. A couple of months ago i was just behind someone who had one large trolley full of sliced bread and another with 6x 2kg spreads (cheap & nasty kind), 4 trays of coke, 2 very large boxes of teabags and 4 of the large tins of instant coffee

Morning All,
Mike I realise that some cafés shop at supermarkets because you can save money. In fact either myself or my uncle would occasionally pop into the local supermarket for my aunt when she was too busy at the café. These pies etc were not the sort of thing that would sell well in any of the cafés that I ever used. Now that I come to think though perhaps she owned a pub, they would go in a pub as bar snacks.
Phil
An awful lot of small corner shop people buy in supermarkets, especially for the multipack items which they split up and sell as singles
