Wouldn't you rather be doing something different.

Good morning all,

It looks like a wet end to the year.

An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

Just sitting here now opening some of the books I had as Christmas presents from the great grandchildren. Birmingham in the 60's revisited, Moseley Balsall Heath & Highgate, Old Birmingham Shops and one that will interest Lyn Newtown & Summer Lane.

What I do find a shame is that there are so many repeated photographs in these books that you can find in books by other compilers. What I also find so odd is that different compilers, different publishers, but they all claim copyright. How do you get copyright on photos that in some cases are over a hundred years old and and in many cases they don't even know who the photographer was?

It's not just the books Phil. As i understand it they do the same at the local studies dept, including items even older. They used, apparently (don't know if they still do, as there is now a published edition) to claim it over the 1828 Pigott map if you purchased a copy of it
