In our area Phil we just leave em on the Pavement they would go in two hours, even on a Sunday evening.

that is precisely what he did with the one freezer and the washing machine, I had the one small chest freezer to supplement my upright one. Pauline said that she wanted it for the veg as they take up so much room in the other one and there isn't enough room for meat. I think that might have been a hint that I eat too much meat.

As you say he put them out on his drive yesterday and they were gone within a couple of hours. Thats another thing, how do these scrap collectors dispose of these freezers? I though you had to produce a certificate now to show that the CFC's have been discharged professionally?

Phil, down here they charge £50 for a freezer and £25 for a fridge.

I know it is expensive because we used to have to get air conditioning units discharged before we could remove them from buildings we were demolishing. I know that scrap metal is at a premium at the moment but the cost of discharging these items properly must still outweigh the scrap value. I remember when Councils had mountains of these items waiting to be discharged.

Phil, this is what the tatters charge, saying they have to pay the council, I'm sure half of them get dumped anywhere.

They charge you, then drive up the road chop a pipe so the CFC discharge into the open air. Then they take it to a shady scrap yard who dump them straight into the crusher or fragmentiser and in 10 minutes nobody is the wiser.
