It probably hasn't changed so much Phil. I never used the place in your day. My town pubs were The Parisian, The Hole in the wall and the bar in The Midland Hotel.

Never used The Hole in the Wall or the Parisian, they were after my time. I know where the Parisian was but the hole in the wall where was that. I've heard it said that it was in Dale End but I can't place it. My favourite pub was the Crown in Station St where I used to drink in the little bar with the scum of the earth and it was great.

The Hole in the wall was opened around the same time as the Top Rank Suite. When it opened it had a Spanish Style to it. It's the first doorway on the left hand side underneath the ramp.
It hasn't been called the hole in the wall for the years, for a long time it was called Sara Moons. I cant remember what it's called now but I wouldn't go near the place. I havn't been in there since it was the Hole in the wall.

Hi Marion. The Exchange was down in Stephenson Place off New Street. Dale End is on the junction of Lower Bull Street and High Street. Both pubs were under ramps, but different ones.

Good morning Lynn and everyone. The town centre pubs are very few and far between now. I know not everyone is keen on Wetherspoons but they have added four new pubs in recent years, and they do serve fairly decent meals.

weatherspoons are ok as a quick drop in place..only ever been in 2..one in southend and that was only to use the loo and ive been in the square peg city centre a few times but thats only because that is the most convenient place for my sister to meet up with me...food adequate always busy and noisy in there (bit like a school dinner hall)...to be avoided on match days in perticular as its just like a cattle market and you cant hear yourself think let alone talk..ok if yer with the wife lads and dont want to hear her having a go at you...

You are right about that Astwood but now there are no decent local pubs where we live. For example. The 17 bus route from Garretts Green into Brum is about 7 miles long. We go within range of four pubs that are open and the only one that is worth going into is the Wetherspoons William Tyler in Yardley.
