i was in the process of trying to find a chinese restaurant I went to in Brindley place, it was not on the canal, but on an upper floor, anyway while I was searching for it I can accross a photo of the "sacks of potatoes in goster green, does anyone know if this was it original name, and what street was it on - looking a current map it seems to be close to where the old BBC studio was

tca dont know if it was called anything else prior to the sacks of potatoes..the address is 10 gosta green B4..it very close to aston university so caters a lot for students more than the average customer...if you walk a few yards down you come to another pub called the gosta green..previously known as the pot of beer and before that the holt arms or inn...

In Gosta Green there is only one pub surviving the Sack of Potatoes. Originally a beerhouse, it opened in 1885 under licensee William Adams It gained a full license in 1951 The pub was an M&B house but is now a freehouse. If this pub is on Aston Street, I can't find my old map at the moment but pubs that have gone from the street were The Grapes closed 1950s The Malt Shovel The Seven Stars The New Inn The Brown Lion The blue Anchor. ALL GONE.

When I sort out the photos I will post in topic pubs
