I remember visiting mom's sister when I was a kid ,she lived in hockley ,they still had gas lamps,no electricity,they have since been demolished.

I remember us having a tin bath,hung on a nail on the backdoor,and an outside loo,cold in the winter ,so we all had a poe,in our bedrooms.

Lyn thanks for the beach comment, there are some great beaches in Borneo, but to be honest, no better than many in Indonesia particularly Sanur and Lombok. I think Kota Kinabalu as a city is on a par with Denpasar, but for the trill of wild life, borneo is awesome. Sadly I did not get time to hit the beaches, it was a 10 day training programme for me, so up between 4 and 5 am back at the hotel at 11pm. We had so much to see in terms of culture and wildlife our days were crammed full, maybe I should do a gallery of beaches
