I am working on it. He also has a friend who refuses to appear.

Morning all,

John I had to go through Nechells this morning, so I decided to have a little drive around the streets. I wish I hadn't, I was soon lost. So many of the streets have changed some are now dead end cul de sacs. I drove down Cromwell St. The only think that is recognisable is the school. Nechells place by the gas works is a dead end and closed off. Bloomsbury St Library looks in a sorry state. I really was shocked.

I have been around that way in the past but stuck to the main roads, this morning was quite an eye opener.

Yes, Phil, it's a bit of an eye opener now.
I think of all the districts in Brum, nechells has been messed around with the most.
Took me ages to find my way round to the back of St. Mathews church, and when I did I parked up and had a wander about, loads of women and young girls coming back from the shops, but they were all dressed in black and had their faces covered, if only we could have forseen what was coming, and if only they could see what used to be.
Bloomsbury library was covered in scaffolding and boards as you can see in the photo gallery.
Nechells parkway is a great swathe cutting the area in half and devoid of any life other than motor vehicles.
Cromwell St. school is the only original part of the street left.

I suppose Lyn will be on soon telling us about her day in the Assay Offices. When in reality she has probably been sat over the road in the Queens all day.

I have just been to "The Other Place" not the one run by a Dicktator but the more friendly one.
Still not so friendly as to let you see pictures without logging in though. Isn't it nice here.
Anyway, I am reading loads of stuff about my old school "Bordesley Green Grammar Technical School for Boys"
It started to be ruined when I was in my last year there and has been in serious decline ever since, so I'm quite excited to find loads of guys who went there in the 50s talking about teachers I know from the 70s and putting up photo's I have never seen before. If I'm not back by morning please send a search party.

John

Do you think she may have done a little too much assaying (in the Queens)?
