Going Round The Bend

I was watching a programme on TV earlier and it mentioned old Victorian Asylums, a guy in the programme explained that they always had a long curved driveway so that they were kept out of public view. These Curved driveways are where the saying GOING ROUND THE BEND came from. Fascinating I thought.

You would. You are in the happy position of not being able to see either the road or the asylum and you have forgotten which way you were walking.
