I went to a couple of Display day's at Central Fire Station. My Brother in Laws sister worked in the Control room. There was always great displays and demonstrations culminating in Fire engines coming racing into the courtyard and Hose jets pointing up at the tower with hose jets with different coloured water. You can imagine to a little lad this was really exiting.

From a 1966 book called "Warwickshire (Pevsner Architectural Guides: Buildings of England)….
Central Fire Station, Corporation Street. 1935 by Sir H. Humphries. Brick and Portland stone in a domestic Georgian style, which seems peculiarly inept for fire engines.

Looks like it's going to be a domestic setting after all Volty , student accommodation seems to have been the biggest growth area in the construction industry for the past few years . With courses for almost anything qualifying students for huge loans it may be time to rationalise the type of courses that our money is loaned out for , singing and dancing , photography and the history of the Beatles do not seem likely to get a return on the loans provided to me

As long as the Fire Station does well out of it I think there may be an upside to these pointless educations.
