He stood on my middle finger, his body was slightly longer than my finger and his wings were wider than my hand. He was very chunky. When we stepped outside he just sat on my hand for a few minutes before taking off. He was blue, green and brown.
Without doubt he was the biggest I've seen in this country.

Jo my wife is terrified of Wasps too, I have seen her running around the top deck of a bus to get away from one.

Same here if one comes near an open window my wife will dash and shut it ,when we go out this time of year ,my wife takes a aerosol of wasp and fly killer in her bag.
