im pleased to find this gra..i shall print it off and add it to my family ancestry folder...yes he lived in njsw with parents until he married my nans sister and then moved to 4/12 paddington st his widow at some point moved to no 14 which was on the front of the st ..my nan took over 4/12 and when mom got married she and dad moved in with nan and i was born there....

The verse that is read out on 'Armistice Day' (11/11 @ the 11th hour) is from the poem "For the Fallen" by Lawrence Binyon:

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

My Grandfather, John Carney, fought in WW1, he was fortunate and came home but died in 1925 which was I am sure aggravated by his war service.

It was very sad to learn that it is believed that the first British soldier to die in World War one was Private John Parr a brave man of 17 years of age.

Story of a vicar and his wife in lincoln,had 7 sons,6 went to WW1 only 1 returned he was badly injured,died of his wounds within 12 months of his discharge,the futility of it all.And still it goes on.

I've thought along similar lines for a long time ,remember the 2 experimental atomic bombs on japan.I think america was testing them to see how good they worked,one terrible risk.

One of the cities the Yaks bombed was the wrong one, they misidentified it. so thousands of the wrong people died. If any other nation had done that it would have been a war crime.
