Facts about WW1 on central news tonight,it showed pic's of 641 men ready to march of to war in newark nottinghamshire, only 4 returned. H ow many more must die before men realise the futility of war ,there are no winners.
Normal people are expendable. Governments and politicians don'r care about populations. Power crazy MPs and ministers just send soldiers in to make a name for themselves. how many of our War Dead actually died on home soil. A small percentage I suggest.
I agree with what you say, politicians cause the trouble, soldiers have to fight to sort it out,the politicians should go with them to the front ,and see what they have to put up with.
As I have said before, at one time the King, who then made the policies, led his army into battle, and that wasn't sitting in a comfortable bivouac like most generals have since WW1. I'm all for Blair to have led the British army into Iraq, and the same for Cameron with any adventure he fancies
very interesting link to elliots volty..i was just reading it and noted that elliots was first hit by incendiaries in 1940 causing much fire damage and then in 41 took the direct hit which killed so many including lynnes sisters dad who was on fire watch duty..how ironic and how unlucky for elliots to get hit twice...will post a map later showing elliots which was inbetween the mission hall (next to the settlement) and the coronet camera works..mission hall still there as is the coronet camera building..
certainly does cleo..dont know if you have ever been on the BARRA site but it really brings home just how many civilians lost their lives..its an amazing site..think i must have typed in most of the streets and roads down my neck o the woods to find out if they were hit..very often if you click on someones name their next of kin and addresses will come up...here is the link again..i usually use the search by injury as both deaths and injuries will show..
